Job: Postdoctoral Fellow in Innovation & Rentiership

                APOLOGIES FOR ANY CROSS-POSTING

Dear all,

Im looking to recruit a Postdoctoral Fellow for 6-months to work on my
SSHRC-funded project From Entrepreneurship to Rentiership? The Changing
Dynamics of Innovation in Technoscientific Capitalism.

Could you please forward to anyone you think relevant?

Ideal candidates should have experience and research interests in science &
technology studies/STS, economic geography, economic sociology, and/or
organization studies. They should also have some theoretical and empirical
interest in the digital economy/digital capitalism and (if possible) in
concepts of assetization and rentiership.

The role will involve working with me on a couple of projects looking at Big
Tech and rentiership. Activities will include both qualitative and
quantitative methods, so comfort with both would be an asset.

More information on the project can be found here: https://rentiership.com/

Previous research coming out of the project includes:

  * Birch, K. and Cochrane, D.T. (2022) Big Tech: Four emerging forms of
digital
rentiership, Science as Culture 31(1): 44-58.
  * Birch, K., Cochrane, T. and Ward, C. (2021) Data as asset? The
measurement, governance, and valuation of digital personal data by Big
Tech, Big
Data & Society 8(1): 1-15.
  * Birch, K. (2020) Technoscience rent: Towards a theory of rentiership for
technoscientific
capitalism,
Science, Technology and Human Values 45(1): 3-33.

Annual salary starting at C$50,000, pro-rated to 6-months.

If youd like more information, then please do get in touch.

Thanks,

Kean
