2 PhD vacancies in art-science approach to the development of offshore wind power, CIRED-PACTE, France
**
Dear all,
Apologies for cross-posting
At CIRED (Paris) and PACTE (Grenoble), French CNRS research units, we have two 3-year vacancy for PhD candidates in social science to work on the development of offshore wind power in France and the associated changes in marine environments, territories and landscapes.
These PhD positions are part of a major interdisciplinary research project (“Following offshore wind power”) connecting together academics from social and non-social sciences, and artists, funded by the French energy agency (Ademe), and co-coordinated by Alain Nadaï (CIRED) and Olivier Labussière (PACTE).
Both PhD students will work within an art-science approach in order to open up to local actors the mechanism of production of science on contested issues, while ethnographing and problematising, on this occasion, the encounter between knowledge (profane, scientific) and the performativity of art in constructing this encounter (science, society).
Both PhDs will experiment with forms of writing and valorisation to generate new understandings and debates around these issues.
• The first PhD will focus on emerging issues at the crossroads of questions of /species, environment and uses of the sea/, in order to draw out a more systemic analysis of the effects of offshore wind power.

• The second PhD will focus on the /sensitive relationship to landscape in the vicinity of wind farms/, which today remain confined to the individual or the intimate, on the fringes of institutions.

The deadline for applications is December 15^th .
Best wishes,
Olivier Labussière & Alain Nadaï
