Online seminar series on social dimensions of biotechnology

Dear all,

A small something from Edinburgh to coax you through the autumnal Wednesday
afternoons. The European Biotechnology & Society seminar series will run at
13:00 - 14:00 (BST/GMT) on six Wednesdays from 30th September to 4th
November.

The series is being convened by Thoko Kamwendo, Ros Attenborough and myself in
collaboration with a synthetic biology, systems biology and industrial
biotechnology funding programme, ERA CoBioTech, as
part of our work on responsible research &
innovation. Its goal is to draw the humanities and social sciences, biologists
and policy practitioners into conversation to examine some of the social,
political, environmental, economic, and ethical dimensions of biotechnology in
Europe.

The full programme of speakers is available
here and among which you will
hopefully recognise some familiar, and excellent, STS folks.

Registration is being managed by our funding partner, so please do sign up
here.

Oh, and just in case you didn’t get enough screen time during the day,
there’s a ‘pub’ on one of the evenings…the 28th October.

Sorry to be the bearer of more screen-based material, but then, it seems this
is what we have these days. It would be great to see some of you there.

With best wishes,

Rob
