PhD Position - University of Amsterdam on "Contested Epistemologies of Sustainability"
Dear colleagues,
With pleasure do I announce the vacancy of this fascinating and fully-funded PhD position on "Contested Epistemologies of Sustainability" at the Sociology Department of the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Led by Dr Catherine Wong and myself, in this project we examine how climate change and the foundational ways of knowing are contested in two radically different contexts: indigenous communities in South/Southeast Asia and conspiratorial communities in Europe. Both communities challenge hegemonic Western epistemologies of sustainability, albeit in their own specific ways.
Your project will explore and compare both communities under this broad umbrella of contested epistemologies, but with plenty of room for your own ideas and innovation in who and what you would like to study. We are looking for curious and creative ethnographers with a Masters degree or equivalent in Sociology, Anthropology or Science & Technology Studies obtained before the employment starting date (Sept/Oct 2024)
Please look at the full vacancy of this four-year long fully funded position for more information, and share with suitable candidates.
Kind Regards,
Jaron Harambam
