Design Conference 2020 Doctoral Colloquium. The submission deadline is
approaching quickly!
[PDC2020 DOCTORAL COLLOQUIUM]
A full-day session intended for PhD students working within the field of
Participatory Design (PD). The session will provide students with a safe and
open space to discuss what matters to them concerning their studies, and
collaboratively seek ways to address them. Participants will have the
opportunity to present their work, share their experiences, and receive
feedback, support, and suggestions from experienced PD researchers and peers.
Important dates
1st December 2019 Submission deadline
15th February 2020 Notification of acceptance / feedback
15th March 2020 Final submissions deadline
Review Process
Selection for participation will be based on the quality of proposal, taking
into account how the research is related to PD. Moreover, the aim will be to
ensure diversity by including students with different disciplinary emphases,
at different stages of their research programs, and coming from different
cultural backgrounds.
Submission Formatting and Length
The proposal must include these four components: 1) an overview of ones PhD
project, including research motivations and questions, methods, intended
contributions, progress to date, and plans for further research, 2) three key
works that influenced ones study 3) the main challenge(s) ones facing in
their PhD currently, and 4) what one wants to gain from participating in the
Doctoral Colloquium.
Submissions should be done following the simplified template available on the
submission page.
Submissions should be written in English and should not be longer than 4
pages. References do not count towards the page limits.
Doctoral Colloquium submissions will not be published in the conference
proceedings but are made available to all colloquium participants.
Attendance
Accepted applicants will be asked to do some pre-conference preparation for
example, reading the other participants submissions, or relating your
proposal to a chapter from the PD Handbook. More directions will be provided
after acceptance. Please note that the colloquium will be run in English.
