Impact assessment challenges

Hello everyone,

Assessing the impact of research has many challenges in common with impact
assessments for other kinds of activities. In this week's blog post, we
analyze two online portals for tracking government impacts.

The two major hurdles for these initiatives are ones that plague research
impact evaluation too: selecting a meaningful indicator to track the desired
impact, and telling a compelling story about how activities contributed to
moving the needle on that indicator (when it moves at all).
