Postdoc position ‘Socio-political impacts and future adaptability of hydrogen systems’
At the KiTeS group at the University of Twente we have a second postdoc position open related to hydrogen (another one was circulated recently). Please distribute to potential candidates and relevant networks! Postdoc position ‘Socio-political impacts and future adaptability of hydrogen systems’ At the University of Twente, NL, we are looking for a postdoc candidate who will study different configurations for hydrogen systems with a view on their socio-political impacts, their potential for adaptability and how stakeholders try to anticipate and cope with the related uncertainties. How hydrogen systems will take shape, in terms of technologies, infrastructures, (geo)spatial distribution, scale and required investments matters for how and which stakeholders are affected, who gains or loses power, and how benefits and burdens are distributed. Moreover, it affects which technical and geopolitical path dependencies and, on the other hand, which potential for adaptability emerges. Methods will include qualitative interviews and scenario workshops. The position is embedded in the HySuccess project that is part of the national research and innovation programme Groenvermogen, and to a smaller extent to a related project that studies the responsible design of electrolyzer materials. The position is 29 months full-time. A part-time arrangement is possible as well. Please find the full vacancy here. Application deadline is October 16, 2025.
