Postdoctoral Position Critical Data Science / Empirical Ethics
Project: Invisible Languages on the Internet
University of Amsterdam, 20 months
Application deadline: 30 September 2025

Only one week left to apply for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in our
project Invisible Languages on the Internet at the University of Amsterdam!

You will join an interdisciplinary research team, featuring Paula Helm
(Empirical Ethics/STS), Saurabh Khanna (Machine Learning/Data Science), Olga
Eisele (Communication Science), and Katrin Schulz (Philosophy of
Language/Computational Linguistics), and work within Amsterdams exciting
academic ecosystem. This 2-year postdoc will explore the sociotechnical and
ethical-political implications of the invisibility of most of the worlds
5,0006,000 languages on the internet.

The project combines computational, qualitative, and participatory methods,
and requires some experience in, or at least a proven affinity to, all three
areas. It involves collaboration with partners such as the Wikimedia
Foundation, Respond Crisis Translation, and the Public Knowledge Project.

We look forward to receiving your application!
