Digital health - farmed salmon. 2 PhDs sociology Trondheim
Dear colleagues, Could you please forward the following information to relevant candidates? At the Department of Sociology and Political Sciences, NTNU, Trondheim, we have two announcements for exciting PhD positions: 1. Digital health data governance in Norway. The candidate is invited to develop and propose a project within this frame. Datafication is an important characteristic of the current socio-political-economic situation and the Nordic welfare states try to position themselves in this context. With a focus on health data, the project shall conduct a sociological inquiry on what this phenomenon means for society, citizens and/or democracy. https://www.jobbnorge.no/en/available-jobs/job/227884/phd-candidate-in-sociol ogy-connected-to-the-research-group-digitalization-and-social-life 2. Sustainable food governance and international entanglements in the case of salmon aquaculture. Salmon farming is a good example of how Norwegian food production produces tensions concerning social and environmental sustainability in Norway and abroad. This PhD project studies the international entanglements of Norwegian aquaculture, with a focus on ensuring democratic governance, responsibility, and sustainability. The PhD student is expected to engage in an in-depth, qualitative case study of a particular policy world related to a specific site or challenge within the thematic frame of the project. The aim is to investigate power relations and actor constellations. Situational analysis is a recommended methodological approach. The applicant is invited to suggest which site or issue they want to focus on. https://www.jobbnorge.no/en/available-jobs/job/228424/phd-candidate-in-sociol ogy-or-political-science-connected-to-the-research-group-envrionment-sustaina bility-and-governance For both positions, the deadline is on august 10. Note that both positions are 100% fully funded, with a salary of ca. 49.300 Euro a year, and there are no tuition fees to pay for PhD programs at universities in Norway. You will also be provided with funds to cover conference participation, books, and so on. You will get good supervision, caring colleagues, and there are no teaching obligations. If you are offered teaching, your contract time will be prolonged accordingly.
