Event announcement: HBP Curriculum Workshop - Research ethics & societal impact, 26-27 September 2019, Graz, Austria

<br>On 26-27 September 2019, the HBP Education Programme will organise a workshop
<br>on research ethics and societal impact at the Graz University of Technology
<br>under the title “Neuroscience, robotics, AI and medical informatics: New
<br>insights with diversity & ethics”.
<br>Participation in the event is open to the entire scientific community, but
<br>especially targets early-career researchers (advanced Master’s students, PhD
<br>students and early postdocs).
<br>

<br>
<br>The HBP Curriculum on Interdisciplinary Brain Science 
<br>combines web-based distance learning courses and complementary
<br>face-to-face workshops. It provides basic lessons in the Human Brain Project
<br>(HBP) core fields neuroscience, medicine and ICT for early-career researchers
<br>outside their area of specialisation, as well as courses on the subjects of
<br>ethics and intellectual property rights, translation and exploitation of
<br>research.

<br>In this 2-day workshop, scientists from different fields like neuroscience,
<br>robotics, AI and medical informatics will provide you with insights on how
<br>they consider variables such as sex, gender, age etc. Additionally, experts in
<br>ethics and diversity will introduce you to Responsible Research and Innovation
<br>(RRI) concepts and their practical application.

<br>explore and make best use of gender and diversity in their field of expertise
<br>get to know and apply RRI and ethical standards and useful tools for
<br>“Diversity in research”
<br>share experiences and gain innovative insights from cross-science perspectives

<br>Application information & Abstract submission
<br>
<br>Application is open to the entire student community and early-career
<br>researchers, regardless of whether they are affiliated with the Human Brain
<br>Project or not. It is aimed to offer equal opportunities for all early-career
<br>researchers regardless of gender, age, origin, etc.
<br>
<br>Participation fee: 250 €
<br>
<br>The fee does not include travel and accommodation. Fees will be collected
<br>after participants have been selected.
<br>
<br>Registration fee waivers are available for a maximum of five participants.
<br>Participants can apply for fee waivers prior to the application deadline by
<br>sending an email to curriculum.edu@humanbrainproject.eu
