<br>The teaching and research area of Applied Ethics and Ethics of Technology of
<br>the RWTH Aachen under the direction of Prof. Dr. Saskia Nagel is located at
<br>the Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Research.
<br>The working group helps to realize an integrated interdisciplinary technical
<br>university and performs a bridging function at the RWTH Aachen University. The
<br>group addresses questions about the ethical and social challenges of
<br>scientific and technological progress. It develops the interdisciplinary
<br>potential between philosophy and the natural and engineering sciences. Key
<br>topics are the philosophy and ethics of the human-technology relationship.
<br>This includes ethical and social issues in Cognitive Science, Neuroscience,
<br>Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Internet of Things, Emerging Medical
<br>Technologies, e.g. e-health, new biotechnologies - and the impact on
<br>individual and social well-being.

<br>Your profile
<br>
<br>- PhD in Philosophy and / or Applied Ethics and / or Interdisciplinary
<br>Studies, with a specialization in Philosophy / Ethics.
<br>- Pronounced knowledge in Applied Ethics and / or Practical Philosophy (ethics
<br>of technology, neuroethics, ethics of AI, data ethics, biomedical ethics,
<br>applied philosophy of technology)
<br>- Experience in interdisciplinary work
<br>- Good analytical skills
<br>- Good IT-skills
<br>- Very good proficiency in English (oral and written)
<br>- Ability to independent scientific work
<br>- Responsibility, creativity, flexibility, team orientation
<br>- Interest in policy and the practical applications of ethics
<br>- Willingness to teach in various degree programs on issues of applied ethics
<br>- Previous work has already been presented at conferences and accepted in
<br>international, competitive journals
<br>
<br>Desired:
<br>- Competence in ethical theory
<br>- Experiences with reflection on current developments in the field of
<br>human-technology interaction, biotechnology, or autonomous systems
<br>- Knowledge and practical experience in methods of empirical social research
<br>or empirical philosophy
<br>

<br>research project proposal up to 750 words, certificates, publication list,
<br>either a summary and table of contents of your dissertation or the entire
<br>dissertation, and the names of two references.

<br>You will have tasks in research and teaching. We expect you to publicize
<br>research results in international, competitive journals. The job includes
<br>assistance in the development of curricula and research applications.

<br>The position is to be filled as soon as possible and for 2 years.
<br>This is a full-time position.
<br>The salary corresponds to level E13 TV-L.
