Subject: Full Professor in Economics of Innovation and New Technology, Maastricht

Full Professor The research institute UNU-MERIT of the School of Business and
Economics (SBE) is looking for a Full Professor in Economics of Innovation and
New Technology.

The full professor will provide academic leadership in the field of the
economics of innovation and new technology. This includes performing
high-quality research published in peer reviewed journals, interaction with
stakeholders (increasing societal relevance and impact of the institute's
research, as well as fund raising), contributions to policy debates, leading
the development of a teaching portfolio at MERIT, most importantly the
creation of a new Master program, and teaching, especially at the Master and
PhD level. The full professor will also contribute to intensifying UNU-MERIT's
contribution to the School of Business and Economic (SBE) of UM.

The holder of the chair will have an established research reputation in the
broad field of the economic analysis of innovation and technological change,
and will be able to address a broad range of specialized topics within this
field. The research specialization of the chair may either be closely related
to existing topics within the institute (such as economic growth,
sustainability, network economics, science, technology and innovation
indicators, policy evaluation, regional innovation systems), or focus on
different topics within the field with complementarities to the above-listed

The candidate's research reputation will be proven by relevant academic
publications and successfully concluded PhD (co-)supervision. Openness
towards, and some affinity with, multidisciplinary research and heterogeneous
approaches in economic analysis is required of the chair holder. Experience in
teaching is also a prerequisite. A track record of externally funded projects
for relevant stakeholders is strongly desired, as is previous experience with
setting up new teaching programs (especially at the Master level). The
successful candidate will also have an inspiring personality and a cooperative
spirit. Ability to work in a diverse setting with many cultural backgrounds
and sensitivity to gender issues is also a necessity.

The terms of employment of Maastricht University are set out in the Collective
