the Department of Science, Technology and Policy Studies (STePS) at the
University of Twente, NL is looking for an
Assistant Professor Science, Technology, and Society Studies (STS), with a
focus on shaping and/or governing technology
Your challenge
We are searching for an ambitious new colleague who is able to expand our
education and research expertise in STS. As assistant professor you will bring
in conceptual, technological, interdisciplinary, and methodological
(qualitative and/or quantitative) expertise to explore and explain options and
alternatives for assessing and shaping emerging technology towards desirable
societal goals. You understand technological development and innovation as a
social, inclusive and co-creative process. You are able to contribute to STS
courses at master level as well as to bachelor courses providing an STS
perspective to different programmes.
You will work in an interdisciplinary context, within our department STePS and
across the faculty and university. You will pursue your research and education
activities in an internationally collaborative environment.
Your profile
You hold a PhD in STS or related social sciences, ideally in combination
with in natural science and/or engineering;
You have a strong interest in operating at crossroads of different
disciplines, certainly with engineers (both students and scholars);
You have knowledge of and proven experience in research and teaching in
the fields of STS, innovation studies, (constructive) technology assessment or
closely related fields;
You have published in international peer-reviewed journals;
Ideally you have experience in the acquisition of external funds;
You have good communication skills, English at C2 level;
To facilitate the professional development and quality of teaching, you
are required to obtain the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ), if not
attained elsewhere. We expect that you will shape your professional
development as a lecturer
You enjoy educating Bachelor and Master students in diverse disciplinary
contexts, and developing creative new teaching elements;
