Further details can be found here: https://ror2.hypotheses.org/247 Please pass this along to anyone who you think may be interested and in a position to apply. Best wishes, Frédérique Bordignon ____________ Contract duration: 22-month fixed-term contract Salary: 2000-2400 euros gross per month depending on experience Employer: École nationale des ponts et chaussées (see institutional website) Location: LISIS lab (see lab website for details) Project: Recherche Ouverte et Responsable X Research On Research (ROR²) funded by ANR (France) École nationale des ponts et chaussées (ENPC) is looking for a researcher to fill in a 22-month postdoctoral position at LISIS lab, near Paris. ENPC is a public higher education and research institution, also part of Institut Polytechnique de Paris. The successful candidate will work within the ROR² team and be located at LISIS (Noisy-Champs, RER line A, cité Descartes campus). Project Overview: Recherche Ouverte et Responsable X Research On Research (ROR²) The research project has two main scientific objectives. First, it aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of researchers' open science practices in relation with research integrity. This involves understanding the continuum from responsible research practices to bad practices, and even misconduct. The investigation will explore how research practices emerge, evolve, and are influenced by various contextual factors. The second objective focuses on reimagining the analytical framework for open science. The project will rely on a Research on Research methodology, and seek to unravel the intricate mechanisms that shape and transform research practices. The ROR² project is structured across four work packages. WP1 will map the "topographical landscape" of research practices, considering the specific configurations and constraints that influence them. WP2 will develop a taxonomy of online platforms for knowledge dissemination (including data, protocols, papers and code, via commercial, institutional or non-for-profit stakeholders), tracing their strategies (including discourse, announcements, and functionalities they offer online) and evolution since the internet's advent. This will provide unprecedented insights into the structural dynamics of the research ecosystem. WP3 will identify the mechanisms that can promote open science and research integrity, and will focus on those that undermine them (e.g., predatory publishing, open washing, research misconducts….). Partners * ELICO – Lyon 1 (Chérifa Boukacem-Zeghmouri) * Datactivist – (Margaux Larre-Perrez) The successful candidate will have a blend of the following skills and interests: * PhD in Information and Communication Science, Scholarly Communication, Science and Technology Studies (STS), Library Sciences, or equivalent; * Expertise and interest for computational social sciences, quantitative approaches in social sciences and humanities, and how they relate to qualitative methods; * Experience and strong interest in research related to scholarly communication, the role of digital platforms in the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge, Open Science, Research Integrity and the challenges of Research on Research; * Skills with tools for extracting, collecting, managing and analysing heterogeneous data (examples: R, Python, Tableau Software, Gephi, CorTexT, Gargantext, etc.); * Fluency in written and spoken English; * Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team; Primary Responsibilities * The person recruited will be positioned on WP2, but will also participate in the other project WPs. They will be expected to work with all the members of the project, including the project's other PostDoc, who will be based in Lyon (France) and working on WP1. * The person recruited will design the survey protocols and work on their deployment for data collection and analysis. * The person recruited will take part in writing deliverables and articles. * The person recruited will be responsible for organising working meetings and will participate in the organisation of scientific events scheduled as part of the project. Work environment * Dedicated office space within the LISIS laboratory, with other postdoctoral researchers * Opportunity to participate in the lab activities (seminars, workshops, training sessions, including those dedicated to early-career researchers) * Remuneration is based on the ENPC salary scale * Travel (France and abroad) is planned for working meetings and scientific communications on the project. * The position will be filled in February/March 2025. Application deadline: December 31, 2024 Submit a single PDF file including: * A comprehensive CV * A cover letter explaining how you intend to participate in and contribute to the project * Maximum two research works representative of your scientific output and a link to your on-line thesis, if available. * Contact details for 1-2 professional references. The dossier should be sent as a single PDF file to frederique.bordignon@enpc.fr and abdelghani.maddi@cnrs.fr.
