Reminder: Nominations open for EASST Council Election 2024 until 1 October

*2024 EASST Council Representatives Election: Nominations open until 1
October for seven Council positions and President*

The European Association for the Studies of Science and Technology
(EASST) fosters within Europe the scholarly study of science and
technology including their historical development and their role in
society. It seeks to improve scholarly communication and exchange in the
field, to increase the visibility of the subject to policy-makers and to
the general public and to stimulate and support teaching on the subject
at all levels.

The EASST Council currently has seven ordinary members, a President, a
Student representative and two co-opted members. A recent Constitutional
change agreed by the members adds two new positions, one of which is
reserved for an ECR representative. The Council meets at least four
times a year (at least one is an in-person meeting) to discuss the state
and developments of STS in Europe and to initiate and conduct measures
to contribute to shaping these developments. The Council is centrally
involved in organizing the EASST conferences, nominating candidates for
awards, supporting students, and supporting local or regional
STS-events. The Council also monitors and contributes to developing the
editorial lines of its in-house journal Science & Technology Studies and
the EASST Review. Furthermore, the Council represents the interests of
its members in European research politics.

From January 2025,*seven positions of the EASST Council *will be vacant
due to expiring terms for current representatives and the two additional
positions. Of the seven vacancies, one seat is reserved for a PhD
student (needs to be a PhD candidate at the time of election), and one
for an ECR (defined as someone who has no more than seven years of
experience since completion of PhD at the time of the election).

In addition, the *position of the President* is up for election for the
2026-2029 term, serving as President-elect in 2025.

Further details of the current Council can be found on the Council page
and the role of the
President and Council is described in the EASST constitution.

*Nominations*

*EASST members *interested in contributing to
shaping the future of STS in Europe are encouraged to put themselves
forward for election as Council members or President. *Election will
take place in October-November 2024.*

If you are interested, read the full call text on the EASST website
 and submit
your nomination*by 1 October 2024. Remember that only current EASST
members can submit their nomination.*
