We are especially interested in <br>candidates who wish to investigate processes of democratization of <br>science with an STS approach (Science and Technology Studies), including <br>such topics as public engagement, citizen science, socially distributed <br>expertise, crowd science, RRI, etc. In particular, a key task will be <br>the *relationship between crowd authority and experts authority in <br>legitimizing scientific knowledge and technological or political <br>choices*. Research questions include, but are not limited to, the following: <br> <br>·What is the social legitimacy and representativeness of digital crowds <br>V. expert judgments? <br> <br>·What makes a crowd judgment appear representative, or fair, or <br>acceptable to policy makers? <br> <br>·How do the decisions of the crowd compare to those of the experts (in <br>terms of legitimacy, representativeness, social acceptability, etc.)? <br> <br>·How do they compare when the decisions involve technical/scientific <br>understanding? Or judgmental/ethical reasoning? Or both? <br> <br> The position will start in fall 2020. Gross salary is €30.000 and <br>coverage by the national healthcare service is given as part of the <br>employment position. <br> <br>The position does not include teaching duties. Teaching at the <br>undergraduate, graduate and master level is possible and encouraged and <br>will entitle to additional compensation. <br> <br>In an effort to foster internationalization, the SoM is encouraging <br>applications of *foreign citizens* and of nationals with international <br>experience. Applicants should have a solid methodological background and <br>a track-record (or proved pipeline) of publications in primary <br>international outlets. The group is <br>composed of more than 15 scholars who conduct research in several areas <br>of innovation, finance and entrepreneurship with a variety of approaches <br>(quantitative, qualitative, theoretical, experimental). The group <br>provides a friendly, stimulating environment that encourages personal <br>and professional development and is especially supportive of young <br>scholars. New hires are offered support from research assistants, access <br>to proprietary data of the group, and have plenty of opportunities to <br>collaborate with senior and junior researchers. Research by EFI members <br>has appeared in journals such as: Strategic Management Journal, <br>Management Science, Research Policy, Science, PNAS, Entrepreneurship <br>Theory and Practice, and others. META <br>is an interdisciplinary network of scholars in the humanities and social <br>sciences aiming to produce and disseminate knowledge and offering <br>expertise in epistemological, ethical and social issues related to the <br>processes of science, technology, and innovation. <br> <br>*Campus and city* <br> <br>The School of Management is in a brand-new building located in the <br>Bovisa campus, near the lecture theatres, the start-up incubator and the <br>school of design, among others. The campus is in the Milan urban area. <br>Central stations of Porta Garibaldi and Milan Cadorna are at 2-stops of <br>public transportation (10 minutes).
