Call for Papers

*25th EURAS Annual Standardisation Conference *
- Standards for Digital Transformation: Blockchain and Innovation -

10 - 12 June 2020

Glasgow, Scotland

Blockchain has received mounting attention as an innovative method of reaching
decentralised consensus using digital systems. This technology is believed to
be able to transform a variety of industries by reshaping the way to conduct
trusted, yet anonymous transactions and to ensure the irreversibility of
records. It is little surprise that the financial sector has already shown
considerable interest in the application of this technology. Likewise,
applications in many other sectors like health care, energy and logistics have
been envisaged. Closer to home, Blockchain applications have been discussed
for legal metrology as well as for standards setting. On the other hand,
certain content may render the mere possession of a Blockchain illegal.

Blockchain is an emerging technology and its standardisation is still at an
early stage. However, numerous standards bodies have become active in the
field. Likewise, Open Source implementations are under development.
Considering the disruptive nature of Blockchain technology, issues to be
associated with the development of common standards and specifications go way
beyond the mere technical challenges. They also require the alignment of
diverse stakeholders' interests and the collaborative design of core
principles and practices.

Against this background, EURAS 2020 solicits papers on the above theme.
However, papers on other standardisation topics will also be considered.
Sample topics include, but are not limited to:

* Standards and platforms.
* Standards and patents.
* Standards as innovation policy tools.
* Standardisation roadmaps.
* Standardisation of converging technologies.
* Standards and digitalisation.
* Standardisation for knowledge management
* Standardisation and Europe's research and innovation agenda.
* Standardisation and open source.
* Standards and technical barriers to trade.
* Standards and the transformation of organizations.
* Adoption/implementation of standards.
* Standards for sustainability.
