<br>The aim of the *project „Functions and Consequences of Unemployment in 
<br>Researchers' Careers“* is to
<br>explore the – field specific – impact of unemployment in researchers’ 
<br>careers on research practices, the ways in which
<br>research activities are continued during unemployment, and on the 
<br>continuation of careers. We will identify the conditions
<br>under which a successful continuation of an academic career is possible 
<br>despite unemployment, and the mechanisms
<br>that link unemployment and the subsequent research career.
<br>Tasks include participation in the conceptual preparation, conduct and 
<br>analysis of the planned empirical studies (qualitative
<br>interviews, qualitative content analysis) in Germany. It is possible to 
<br>develop a dissertation topic on the basis of the
<br>data collected in the empirical studies. Further information on the

<br>*Requirements: *
<br>
<br>- Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diploma or 
<br>equivalent) in a social sciences discipline with a focus
<br>on one of the areas: Sociology of Science, Professions, Organisations or 
<br>Work as well as the willingness to familiarise
<br>with the other areas
<br>- Excellent German and English language skills
<br>- High degree of independence and commitment in the organisation and 
<br>realisation of predominantly qualitative empirical
<br>studies
<br>- Knowledge in statistical analysis is desirable
<br>
