<br>The Centre for Social Research in Health is based in the Faculty of Arts and
<br>Social Sciences at UNSW Sydney. The Centre has made major contributions to
<br>Australia’s response to hepatitis C, HIV and sexual health. With 34 staff
<br>(16 academic staff, 10 research officers and 8 professional staff shared
<br>jointly with the Social Policy Research Centre), the Centre is highly regarded
<br>for the quality of the research undertaken, its multidisciplinary approach,
<br>and its engagement with communities most affected by blood borne viruses. The
<br>work of the Centre informs policy and practice both nationally and
<br>internationally.
<br>The Research Fellow position requires expertise in qualitative inquiry,
<br>critical social science, and applying social theory (for example science and
<br>technology studies, post structural theory, feminist science studies, and
<br>more-than-human approaches).The primary focus of the two year position is to
<br>work with ‘Evidence-Making Intervention’ program leaders Professor Tim
<br>Rhodes and Dr Kari Lancaster to develop and undertake qualitative research,
<br>including: research design; concept development; literature reviews; managing
<br>research ethics; liaison with research, policy and community project partners;
<br>data generation (e.g. interviews and ethnography); data coding, management and
<br>analyses; and writing scholarly outputs for conference presentations and
<br>publications (both as lead and co-author on research publications).

<br>Salary: $107,210- $126,386 + 9.5% superannuation & Annual Leave loading
<br>22 mth fixed term contract
<br>Full time- 35hr/per week
<br>Location: Kensington Campus – Sydney, Australia
<br>RESPONSIBILITIES
<br>
<br>Specific responsibilities for this role include:
<br>
<br>Ensure all UNSW, Faculty and Centre policies, procedures and codes of practice
<br>are adhered to at all times
<br>Plan and complete day-to-day research activities within the framework of
<br>agreed project timelines and responsibilities as directed by Professor Tim
<br>Rhodes and Dr Kari Lancaster
<br>Contribute to the development of grant applications for externally funded
<br>qualitative and social science research
<br>Undertake qualitative and/or ethnographic research, including day-to-day
<br>project management, data generation, data coding, and data analysis
<br>Undertake and synthesise literature reviews, including literature pertaining
<br>to social science methods and theory
<br>Contribute to the writing of papers for peer reviewed publication (both as
<br>lead author and co-author), and to presentations at national and/or
<br>international conferences
<br>Assist in the management of research ethics and governance
<br>Assist with the organisation of events/seminars and to project dissemination
<br>and profile
<br>Liaise with research, policy and community project partners, within and beyond
<br>UNSW
<br>Cooperate with health, safety and other policies and procedures of the
<br>university
