CfP: ACM FAT* 2020 (Conference on Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency)

                We are pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the 2020 ACM Conference on Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency (FAT* 2020), to be held in Barcelona, Spain on January 27–30 2020.
<br>
<br>The third annual ACM FAT* Conference brings together researchers and practitioners interested in fairness, accountability, and transparency in socio-technical systems. The previous two conferences had acceptance rates of 25% and attracted attendees from across academia, industry and public policy. FAT* 2020 has 5 submission tracks reflecting its disciplinary diversity:

<br>Fairness by Design
<br>Accountability by Design
<br>Methods for algorithmic auditing, measurement, evaluation and risk assessment
<br>Methods involving human factors and humans-in-the-loop
<br>Methods for the assessment of explainability, transparency and interpretability
<br>
<br># Track 2: Law #
<br>Data protection law and fundamental rights and freedoms
<br>Non-discrimination law, justice and fairness
<br>
<br># Track 3: Social Sciences and Humanities #
<br>Economics, politics and social justice
<br>Philosophy and Science and Technology Studies
<br>
<br># Track 4: Practice and Experience #
<br>Deployed applications, systems or software.
<br>Algorithmic audits, evaluations, or benchmarks of real-world systems.
<br>Experiences in governance: standardization, activism or communication.
<br>
<br># Track 5: Education #
<br>Educating at the intersection of law, social sciences, humanities, and computer science
<br>Fairness, accountability and transparency in education
<br>
<br>We encourage submissions that help bridge between topics and disciplines in the conference, and which challenge them with new theory, evidence and perspectives.
<br>
<br># Key Dates #
<br>Full paper submission - Aug 22 2019 (pre-register Aug 15)
<br>Notification date - Oct 31 2019
<br>Conference - Jan 27-30 2020
<br>FAT* is timed around other relevant events, before CPDP in Brussels and before AAAI in New York.
<br>
<br>Papers (8-10 pages) are double-blind peer reviewed and published in the conference proceedings in the ACM Digital Library. Author for whom a conference venue is not convenient can also opt for non-archival submission, subject to the same review process but only appearing as an abstract in the proceedings.
