Folks,

the European Academy for Standardisation (EURAS) will hold their 24th
annual Conference in Rome, Italy. The CfP is enclosed below, the
submission deadline is 15 February. So you might want to start writing
that ultimate paper now ......

Hope to see you in Rome.

Cheers,
Kai.

24th EURAS Annual Standardisation Conference

- Standards for a Bio-Based Economy -

13 –-15 June 2019
Rome, Italy

Organised by

The European Academy for Standardisation (EURAS)
Unitelma Sapienza – Bioeconomy in Transition Research Group (BiT-RG)
STAR-ProBio (H2020 RIA programme – grant agreement no. 727740)
Chair of Innovation Economics – Technische Universität Berlin

Hosted by
LUISS Guido Carli University of Rome

Governments and companies across Europe and worldwide are confronted
with depletion of natural resources due to, among others, their
unsustainable use, increased global competitiveness, increasing
population, and other challenging environmental and economic issues.
Promoting the sustainable growth of dynamic bio-economy sectors will
contribute to an innovative, resource efficient and competitive society
in transition from a fossil fuel-based society to a bio-based one.
Bio-based products represent a great opportunity to reconcile
sustainable long-term growth with environmental protection through the
prudent use of renewable resources for industrial purposes. However,
managing those resources in a sustainable manner implies facing major
challenges. In this context, sustainability schemes and standards play a
key role in ensuring a clear and evidence-based view of environmental,
economic and social impacts. Sustainability assessment schemes are
crucial for the development, implementation and management of effective
regulatory frameworks incorporating the principle of the circular
economy, with a focus on end-of-life and after use analysis.
EURAS 2019 solicits papers on the above theme. However, papers on other
standardisation topics will also be considered. Sample topics include:
- Standards for sustainability.
- Green standards and certificates.
- Standards and regulation for bio-based products.
- Standardisation and Europe's research and innovation agenda.
- Standards as policy tools.
- National or international policy and standardisation.
- Standardisation of converging technologies.
- Smart standardisation.
- Standardisation roadmaps.
- Standardisation and Open Source.
- Standards and barriers to trade.
- Standards as a driver for innovation.
- Relation between standardisation and legislation.
- Standardisation and quality infrastructure.
- Legal aspects of standardisation.
- Standards and knowledge transfer.
- Standardisation and entrepreneurship.
- The impacts of standards and standardisation.
- Quality of standards.
- Role of industry and their associations in standardisation.
- Standardisation via industry consortia.
- History of standardisation.
- Standardisation processes.
- Standards and digitalisation.
Full papers (up to 30 double spaced pages; rtf. .doc or .docx format)
should be submitted to: Kai Jakobs at Kai.Jakobs@cs.rwth-aachen.de.
All papers will be double blind reviewed by members of the Technical
Programme Committee. All accepted papers will be published in the
conference proceedings, as part of the 'EURAS Contributions to
Standardisation Research' book series. Particularly good papers will be
fast-tracked to the Int. Journal of Standardization Research.
Selected papers will be fast-tracked for a Special Issue of the
International Journal on Standardization Research on "Standards for the
Bio-based Economy".

Deadlines
-----------
Paper submission: 15 February 2019
Notification: 22 March 2019
Final paper due: 05 April 2019

Local Organisation and Enquiries
---------------------------------------
Please send any enquiries to Piergiuseppe Morone and Francesca Govoni at
EURAS-2019@unitelmasapienza.it

Conference Venue
----------------------
LUISS Guido Carli, University of Rome – Viale Pola 12, 00198 Rome, Italy
(http://www.luiss.edu)
For more information about EURAS please visit http://www.euras.org.

Technical Programme Committee
---------------------------------------------
Martin Adolph, ITU, CH
Marie Barani, Vectis, UK
Raffaele Bifulco, LUISS, IT
Knut Blind, TU Berlin & Fraunhofer FOKUS, DE
Francesco Bolici, U.
