Dear all,
I would like to draw your attention to an online course focused on using
conscious and inclusive language in our academic work, created by myself (Dr
T. Kamwendo) and my colleague Dr D. Scott. The course is designed for
academics to learn the basics of conscious and inclusive language in order to
align their language with their intentions.
The course consists of 15 lessons, with accompanying transcripts, exercises,
and links to relevant resources. Participants also receive an extensive
annotated list of resources, including online style guides, guidelines from
organizations, and articles providing context for language choices.
Participants go through the course at their own speed, and we hold Q&A Zoom
calls several times a year, open to all course participants. The course is
particularly suitable for departments, projects, and networks who want to find
ways to foster an inclusive culture.
