18-months STS postdoc position IMSO4DIPLO project (Paris, France)
Dear colleagues,
We have an exciting job opportunity for a full-time postdoctoral researcher in Science and Technology Studies (STS). This is an 18-month position based at SKEMA Business Schools Paris campus in France.
This position is funded by the IMSO4DIPLO project, co-funded by the French 'Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR)'. IMSO4DIPLO is a multidisciplinary project investigating the role of evidence-informed science diplomacy, as a strategic instrument to strengthen democracy, governance, and trust.
The successful candidate will examine science diplomacy practices, including how relevant actors select and interpret data to inform decision-making. They are expected to contribute to research activities within the scope of the project, such as conducting fieldwork (qualitative interviews and ethnography), writing research publications, presenting at conferences, and participating in project-related meetings and workshops. The role will also offer opportunities to collaborate with academics and researchers from international partner universities involved in the project.
Essential skills and attributes:
- A PhD in Science and Technology Studies (STS) or a cognate field, or postdoctoral research experience in related areas.
- In-depth knowledge of key concepts in STS.
- Ability to critically engage with technical content from the natural and life sciences.
- Experience in qualitative data collection and analysis, including in conducting ethnographic fieldwork.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, demonstrated by a strong publication record in STS-related journals.
- Basic proficiency in French (B1 level), with the ability to understand and communicate independently.
Interested candidates are required to provide the following documents in PDF format regrouped in a single ZIP file:
- A cover letter
- A 2-page CV with a list of publications
- The names and contact details of three referees
- One or two written samples (publications)
The successful candidate will be based in Paris and is expected to begin on 1 February 2025. The approximate annual gross salary is 42,000.
Applications will be accepted until 15 December 2024. Interested candidates should submit their application or direct any enquiries to Dr Barbara Ribeiro at barbara.ribeiro@skema.edu.
Please forward this opportunity to anyone who may be interested.
Best regards, Barbara
