STS PhD position
Dear colleagues,
We are thrilled to announce an open PhD position application funded by the IHS (Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna) and the Horizon Europe project AGRO4AGRI.
This initiative is aimed at fostering advanced research within the Science and Technology Studies (STS) field, focusing on sustainable and responsible nanotechnology use in reducing pesticides related to the project "FOSTERING THE ADVANCED USE OF AGROCHEMICALS FOR A SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE".
As a junior researcher, you will develop your dissertation project and be involved in the ongoing projects of the research group.
About you − You have completed a Master’s degree in sociology, STS or a related field. − You have a strong interest in responsible research practices. − You have initial experience and are prepared to conduct methodologically demanding qualitative studies. Knowledge of ethnography is desirable. − You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Command of German is an advantage.

The monthly salary for the advertised position is based on the FWF scheme for doctoral candidates and amounts to € 2,684.10 gross for a 30-hour week, paid 14 times per year.
The position is to be filled on September 1, 2024. The initial contract period is 3 years, with the possibility of an extension upon successful internal evaluation.
