Re: Call for Abstracts – Panel on STS C=?utf-8?q?onference Graz =22Knowledge Structures and Epistemic Infrastructu?= res" (deadline 20th of January)
Dear EASST- managing team, I’m sorry, there was a typo in my last email! Best, Franziska “A bit late, but nonetheless a warm invitation to submit a contribution to the discussion! We are pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the panel “Knowledge Structures and Epistemic Infrastructures”, which will be held at the 23rd Annual STS Conference Graz, “Critical Issues in Science, Technology and Society Studies” taking place on 5-7 May 2025 at the TU Graz (Austria). Our panel invites contributions – theoretical or empirical – exploring the interplay between knowledge structures and epistemic infrastructures, focusing on the micro and meso levels of scientific knowledge. We aim to investigate how knowledge is produced, transferred, and transformed through the dynamic relationships between positive knowledge, non-knowledge, and negative knowledge within structured epistemic contexts, such as archives, repositories, or collections. We welcome submissions that address the following topics and questions, among others: * How do epistemic infrastructures facilitate the systematic organisation and transfer of knowledge? * How is positive knowledge developed and sustained as a coherent framework for innovation? * How is non-knowledge (gaps in understanding) identified and approached within collective epistemic practices? * How is the potential of negative knowledge (knowledge about errors, exclusions, or what does not work) harnessed for collective learning and scientific progress? * How do epistemic infrastructures bridge individual and collective epistemic efforts? By examining these questions, we seek to foster discussions that connect knowledge structures with the material and conceptual frameworks that underpin them. Contributions highlighting epistemic infrastructures’ role in shaping transitions between the known and the unknown are especially encouraged. We welcome any format, such as conceptual frameworks, case studies, collaborative explorations, and traditional paper presentations. Submission Details: * Submit your abstract here: https://stsconf.tugraz.at/calls/call-for-abstracts/ * The deadline for abstract submission is 20 January 2025 For more details on the panel, visit: https://stsconf.tugraz.at/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/CALL-FOR-ABSTRACTS-2025_V2.pdf For inquiries, please contact us at franziska.soergel@kit.edu or hartstein@dzhw.eu. We look forward to your submissions!” Von: "Sörgel, Franziska (ITAS)" Datum: Montag, 13.
