Education for Good: Affirmative Technoscientific Practices in Educational
Spaces (10th STS Italia Conference)

This panel invites contributions exploring how education can be understood
as a public space where technoscientific practices promote the common good.
We encourage discussions on the rethinking of educational practices and
policies through sociomaterial care, mending, and regenerative reflection.
Contributions should address affirmative critique, focusing on the
relationship between education and technoscience, and how we can move from
exposing injustices to engaging with open-ended futures (Haraway, 2016). We
welcome research on the material-discursive entanglements within education
that challenge hegemonic structures, foster healing, and support diverse
life forms.
We welcome contributions focused on, but not limited to:
- Local educational practices resisting corporate interests and global
policies (Souto-Otero & Beneito-Montagut, 2016).
- Collaborative temporal imagination in response to technological
acceleration in education (Tierens et al., 2024).
- Unlearning power dynamics through re-centering marginalized knowledge
(Landri, 2018).
- Practices fostering alliances with non-human entities and reimagining
educational spaces (Zembylas, 2022).
We believe that education should be an active participant in co-creating
futures that affirm diverse experiences, rather than merely receiving
technological interventions. STS practice-theory can help us work "in" and
"on" the world to construct a shared vision of the "good" in education.
