Call for Participation | Normative Energy Ethics Workshop | deadline 15 Sept
Dear all, From 23 to 25 November 2021, the research group "Philosophy of Engineering, Technology Assessment and Science" at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is hosting a workshop on normative energy ethics: https://www.itas.kit.edu/english/events_2021_energy_ethics_workshop.php. We warmly invite applications for participation via this registration form until 15 September 2021. Theme We envision energy ethics as a space to develop systematic theoretical investigations capable of analyzing energy systems, infrastructures, technologies, and policies, evaluating stakeholders' values, judging the ethical merit of energy related choices, actions, and decisions. Moreover, we propose that reflections in energy ethics should also be able to evaluate courses of action morally. In this workshop, we would like to explore together how normative ethical perspectives may help address different energy issues and potentially anticipate ethical and socio-ecological problems. We are interested in discussing several perspectives, including but not limited to: * Capabilities Approach * Care Ethics * Virtue Ethics * Mobility Justice * Energy Sufficiency * Environmental, Climate, and Energy Justice Format We plan an engaged and interactive event, consisting of a few presentations and many opportunities for discussions and networking, with participation of up to 50 people. We will likely organize this workshop according to a hybrid format that allows both in person and online participation. For questions, please contact: energy-ethics@itas.kit.edu. We look forward to receiving your submissions! Best regards, The Organizing Team Giovanni Frigo, Meike Hebich, Julia Merdes, Christine Milchram, Michael Poznic, Michael Schmidt, Lorenzo Simone, Rafaela Hillerbrand __________ Dr. Christine Milchram Postdoctoral Researcher [cid:image001.jpg@01D637F5.372D28F0] Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) | Philosophy of Engineering, Technology Assessment & Science (PhilETAS) Karlstrae 11, 76133 Karlsruhe M +49 151 75003850 E christine.milchram@kit.edu KIT - The Research University in the Helmholtz Association _______________________________________________ EASST's Eurograd mailing list Eurograd (at) lists.easst.net Unsubscribe or edit subscription options: http://lists.easst.net/listinfo.cgi/eurograd-easst.net Meet us via https://twitter.com/STSeasst Report abuses of this list to Eurograd-owner@lists.easst.netview formatted text
