New Book "Interdisciplinary Critical Studies of Ageing and Technology"
Dear colleagues, Our new book on ageing and technology is out! Peine, A., B. L. Marshall, W. Martin, and L. Neven, (eds.) (2021). Socio-Gerontechnology — Interdisciplinary Critical Studies of Ageing and Technology. London: Routledge. This volume brings together leading scholarship on age, ageing and technology, and establishes a dialogue between STS and critical studies of age and ageing. Comprised of 15 original contributions, three commentaries and an afterword, this book explores common conceptual, theoretical and methodological ideas that become visible in the emerging body of critical scholarship on ageing and technology that straddles the disciplinary boundaries between STS and Age Studies. The book is an agenda-setting text that will provide an introduction for students and early career researchers as well as for more established scholars who are interested in age and ageing and its co-constitution with technoscience as an emerging new topic in STS. It explores the critical potential of STS scholarship to offer new perspectives towards the many well-endowed public innovation and technology development programmes and private consumer technology initiatives specifically aimed at older people. The book as well as access to individual chapters can be ordered from the Routledge’s website, where you can also download a free copy of the introduction chapter: https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/edit/10.4324/9780429278266/socio-gerontechnology-alexander-peine-barbara-marshall-wendy-martin-louis-neven Happy Easter!
