Call for Abstracts - Conference <br> <br> <br> <br>Sustainable Urban Energy Systems <br> <br>Technological prospects, citizen involvement and <br> <br>governance arrangements <br> <br> <br> <br>8th - 9th November 2018, Delft University of Technology, Netherlands <br> <br> <br> <br>From 8th to 9th November 2018, TU Delft will host an international conference <br>on "Sustainable Urban Energy Systems - Technological prospects, citizen <br>involvement and governance arrangements". We aim to bring together <br>researchers, industry and policy makers to explore the technological, <br>economic, ethical, behavioral, governance and public policy aspects of urban <br>energy systems. <br> <br> <br> <br>Confirmed Key Note Speakers <br> <br>Benjamin Sovacool (University of Sussex) <br> <br>Peter Palensky (Delft University of Technology) <br> <br>Holger Krawinkel (MVV Energie AG, Mannheim, Germany) <br> <br>Erik ten Elshof (Ministry of Economic Affairs, Netherlands) <br> <br> <br> <br>Theme <br> <br>Urban energy systems are going through fundamental technological and societal <br>changes in the transition to sustainable energy systems. From being passive <br>agglomerations of energy consumption and environmental pollution, the future <br>energy provision of cities is deemed to be cleaner, smarter and closer to the <br>needs of citizens. For a successful transition towards sustainable urban <br>energy systems, technological and social innovations need to be aligned with <br>the underlying societal values and guided by the wider institutional and <br>governance context. <br> <br> <br> <br>Topics include, but are not limited to: <br> <br> Governance, policy and regulation of urban energy systems <br> <br> Social innovations and local energy initiatives <br> <br> Responsible innovation in energy systems <br> <br> Energy justice and poverty <br> <br> Energy demand: energy demand side management, energy efficiency, <br>energy consumption and conservation <br> <br> Public engagement, controversies and conflicts in changing energy <br>systems, participatory methods, consumer empowerment <br> <br> Digitalization: smart grid, artificial intelligence and blockchain <br>technology <br> <br> Integration of energy systems: electricity, gas and heating <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br>Guidelines for Submissions <br> <br>We invite submissions for paper presentations, poster presentations as well as <br>proposals for panels organized by participants. The abstracts will be reviewed <br>by members of the organizing committee. <br> <br> <br> <br>Abstract submission for papers and poster presentations until 15 June 2018: <br> <br>Title, 4-6 keywords, name and contact details of (corresponding) authors, <br>abstract of 300 words including aim and methodology, expected or obtained <br>results; MS Word document <br> <br> <br> <br>Panel proposal submission until 15 May 2018: <br> <br>Title, 4-6 keywords, name and contact details of session organizer, abstract <br>of 300 words; panel sessions can contain three to four presentations of 20 to <br>30 minutes <br> <br> <br> <br>Authors can present one paper as lead-author. Please send abstracts and <br>proposals to urbanenergy@tudelft.nl.
