Call for panels | Third International Conference of Scuola Democratica - Education and/for Social Justice (June 3-6, 2024, University of Cagliari)
Apologies for cross-posting
Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce you the call for panels for the Third International Conference of the academic journal “Scuola Democratica – Learning for democracy”. The conference will be held in-person at University of Cagliari (Italy), June 3-6, 2024.
The conference is devoted to the needs and prospects of education and/for social justice. Theoretical reflections and empirical analyses (qualitative and quantitative, large-scale, or focused on specific contexts) that aim at identifying the plurality of factors that contribute to producing inclusion/exclusion, equality/inequality, and recognition/non-recognition of diversity—in other words, social justice and injustice—are warmly welcome.
Panel proposals that engage STS epistemologies, theories, methods, and empirical issues for the analysis of the educational matter in reference to the general theme of social justice are highly encouraged. The conference is interdisciplinary in scope and invites contributions from sociologists, anthropologists, STS scholars, philosophers, pedagogists, economists, media scholars.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
· education and (digital) technology
· governance, subjectivities, and the forms of education
· educational policy and inequality
· the globalization of social (in)justice
· educational regulations at school level
· education, art, and social justice
· de-colonizing education
· inequality in education and the crises of democracies
· teachers and educational (in)equality
· intercultural education, democratic citizenship education, and anti-racism
· young people and social (in)justice
· gender inequality, homo-transphobia, and sexist education
