Working field:
The aim of the project „Functions and Consequences of Unemployment in
Researchers' Careers“ is to
explore the – field specific – impact of unemployment in researchers’
careers on research practices, the ways in which
research activities are continued during unemployment, and on the
continuation of careers. We will identify the conditions
under which a successful continuation of an academic career is possible
despite unemployment, and the mechanisms
that link unemployment and the subsequent research career.
Tasks include participation in the conceptual preparation, conduct and
analysis of the planned empirical studies (qualitative
interviews, qualitative content analysis) in Germany. It is possible to
develop a dissertation topic on the basis of the
data collected in the empirical studies. Further information on the

Requirements:
- Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diploma or
equivalent) in a social sciences discipline with a focus
on one of the areas: Sociology of Science, Professions, Organisations or
Work as well as the willingness to familiarise
with the other areas
- Excellent German and English language skills
- High degree of independence and commitment in the organisation and
realisation of predominantly qualitative empirical
studies
- Knowledge in statistical analysis is desirable
