How do we encounter the world when we cook and eat? From an STS
perspective, cooking and eating are two of the most direct ways of
interacting with the world, and one in which, we constantly re-negotiate
the socio-technical world.

In this workshop we will do STS by cooking a lunch. Each workshop
participant will need to bring two edible ingredients that represent an
important element of interacting with the world for her. We will conduct
a series of exercises to learn about these ingredients, how to cook
them, and learn what they do to our bodies. We will then conduct another
series of exercises to consider the ways we want to create a meal from
these ingredients: We will think through how they politically and
gustatorily sit together, what kinds of transformations we want them to
undergo and what kind of situation (religious, political, technical) to
create to eat the meal. Finally, we will also think through the waste we
produce with our lunch and what to do with it and seek to introduce it
into the meal.
