Pouya Sepehr

I am Pouya Sepehr, currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the George Simmel Centre for Urban Studies, Department of European Ethnology at Humboldt University of Berlin. I am thrilled to put myself forward for the ECR position on the EASST Council, driven by a deep passion for shaping the future of STS in Europe. My academic journey has been firmly anchored in Europe, with both a PhD and MA in Science-Technology-Society from the University of Vienna, along with extensive professional and research experiences across various European contexts.

During my tenure as a 6S representative on the 4S Council from 2021 to 2024, I learned firsthand what it means to work collectively and strategically within the STS community. This role exposed me to the complex challenges we face on a global scale and sharpened my understanding of what is needed to strengthen our field. It has also fueled my desire to focus more intensively on the European STS community, which has been the heart of my academic life and where I believe I can make a significant impact.

As someone with a rich, multicultural background and professional experiences spanning multiple countries both within and beyond Europe, I have developed a keen awareness of how vital it is to diversify the work and politics of STS in Europe. EASST has the power to lead this charge, by fostering greater inclusivity and more meaningful engagement with underrepresented scholars and communities. If elected, I will work to ensure that EASST not only remains a vibrant intellectual space but also expands its horizons to create more inclusive, culturally diverse, and accessible platforms for all. I look forward to the opportunity to help drive a more diverse and dynamic future for STS in Europe.
