British Academy ECR workshop on Social Science & Mental Health Policy, Edinburgh, 22 March 2018 - keynote: Norman Lamb MP
Dear colleagues,
Im delighted to announce an application-only early-career workshop on:
Mental Health Policy and Social Science Practice: Enhancing Engagement and
Expertise. This will take place in Edinburgh city centre on the 22nd March
2018. The speakers will be: Diana Rose (Professor of User-led Research, KCL),
Chris OSullivan (Head of Business Development and Engagement, Mental Health
Foundation) and Norman Lamb (former Care Minister and current Chair of the
Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology, House of Commons).
The schedule for the day is as follows:

13.45 Arrival of Norman Lamb MP (talk and Q&A)
14.15 Poster display and informal discussion with Lamb
15.00 Registration for public panel discussion [ECR workshop attendees will be
automatically registered]
15.15 Public panel discussion with Rose, OSullivan and Lamb
17.00 Drinks and canaps
18.00 Close
The workshop is open to 20 ECRs (i.e. PhD students and recent postdoctoral
scholars), who are requested to bring posters about their work in order to
facilitate speaker feedback.
The ECR event is funded by the British Academy, via a Rising Star Engagement
Award; the public panel discussion is sponsored by the Wellcome Trust.
Potential ECR attendees should send a copy of their CV and a short description
of their work to
martyn.pickersgill@ed.ac.uk by the 20th
February. Some funds to facilitate attendance are available; should an
applicant wish to apply for a bursary, please detail travel costs and any
other sources of funding in the application letter.
