Two PhD vacancies in Social Studies of Scholarly Communication and Peer Review

                Dear colleagues,

With pleasure do we announce two vacancies of fully-funded 4-year PhD positions within our project DISAPEER at the Institute for Science in Society, Radboud University, the Netherlands.

Supervised by Dr. Willem Halffman and myself, in collaboration with Dr. Felicitas Heßelmann at Humboldt University, Berlin, the PhD candidates will examine the who of scholarly peer review: who is considered a relevant and appropriate peer, amidst transformations of the academic ecosystem including digitization and expectations for interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research? And what implications does this have for review quality, the published record and academic communities?

We are looking for curious and creative candidates with an affinity in either qualitative or quantitative social science methods and a Master’s degree or equivalent in social science, science and technology studies, philosophy of science, or a related field, e.g. library science or data science, obtained before the anticipated start date (September 2024).
The deadline for applications is May 14th.

Please look at PhD Candidates for Social Studies of Scholarly Communication and Peer Review | Radboud University (ru.nl) for more information, and please share with suitable candidates.

Kind regards,
Serge
