Postdoctoral Fellowship: Skepticism about Testimony (University of Haifa / Zefat Academic College)
We <br> welcome applications for a postdoctoral fellowship, which is part <br> of the research <br> project Skepticism about Testimony, funded by the Israeli <br> Science Foundation. <br> The projects principal investigators are Dr. Arnon Keren from the <br> Department <br> of Philosophy at the University of Haifa, and Dr. Boaz Miller from <br> the <br> Department of Community Information Systems at Zefat Academic <br> College. The <br> project studies skeptical arguments about the possibility of <br> attaining <br> knowledge from testimony and involves an empirical study of how <br> people form <br> testimonial beliefs online. <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> The <br> successful candidate will pursue his or her own research, as well <br> as contribute <br> to the project. The fellow is expected to assist in various ways <br> in the <br> research project, including participating in building Web <br> interfaces and <br> running online experiments, to comment on or summarize papers <br> related to the <br> research project, to co-author papers with other team members, and <br> participate regularly in meetings of the research team. <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> The <br> fellowship consists of NIS <br> 90,000 / year (approximately USD <br> 24,000) and is renewable for a second year subject to successful <br> performance by <br> the fellow. The fellowship is conditioned on continued funding for <br> the project <br> by the ISF. <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> Requirements: <br> <br> PhD in philosophy, STS, <br> information studies or related fields. Prior research on related <br> issues is an <br> asset. Knowledge of social epistemology is an asset. <br> Experience in computer programming. <br> Experience as a Web or Full Stack developer is an asset. <br> <br> <br> <br> Applicants <br> are requested to send a short email describing their <br> qualifications for the <br> position, a CV, a published or publishable writing sample of no <br> more than 9,000 <br> words, and a name and email of a potential reference.
