Monopoly & Technoscience

Dear all,

Apologies for the longish email request to a listserve.

Is anyone doing any STS-specific work on monopoly and technoscience? Im
particularly interested in research on Big Tech, or GAFAM, and the notion
that certain technologies are inherently monopolistic, for whatever reason
e.g. network effects. So, analytical work as much as empirical.

Some people have already suggested work in innovation studies and earlier STS
work on agriculture, but Im interested in more recent research on
digital/data technoscience. Especially, anyone doing work on the techlash.

I want to extend some of my existing research on technoscience rents e.g.
Technoscience Rent: Toward a Theory of Rentiership for Technoscientific
Capitalism
just published in Science, Technology & Human Values. In this article, I
identify monopoly as a mode of ownership and am now interviewing various
people about tech monopolies.

Itd be great to hear from others, so please do send anything my way.

Cheers

Kean
