Practice

The research platform investigates the meaning and role of
responsibility towards society in research practices at universities.
Besides the existing activities of the platform, the thematic focal
points in the next years will be: handling of data (big data, open data)
and related questions of societal responsibility, research integrity, as
well as analyses of controversial debates at the interface of academic
research and society. The research team is interdisciplinary (science
and technology studies and life sciences). The head of the platform is
Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ulrike Felt.
Duration of employment: 3 years
Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement

determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
the successful applicant is expected to:
conduct independent research within the profile of the research platform
write a PhD thesis within the thematic focal points of the research
platform
successfully pass the public presentation ("fakultätsöffentliche
Präsentation") of PhD project within the first 12 months
develop innovative forms and formats of interdisciplinary
collaboration with the life sciences
publish internationally, both individually and collectively
conceptualise and organise scientific events related to the platform
topic
participate in the acquisition of internationally competitive funding
participate in the administrative processes of the platform
Profile:
Completed study within a social science field (Diploma-, Master-, or
Magister-Degree) or in another research field & proof of meaningful
qualification in Science and Technology studies
Ability to plan and conduct research on the level of a PhD
Very good knowledge of science and technology studies, regarding
theoretical and methodological approaches (qualitative methods)
High ability and readiness to work in an interdisciplinary team
Excellent or very good profiency in English is a must; excellent or
very good proficiency in German is an advantage

Weiterführung der bisherigen Arbeiten: Umgang mit Daten (big data, open
data) und der Frage gesellschaftlicher Verantwortung, Integrität in der
Forschung, sowie Analyse von kontroversen Diskussionen an der
Schnittstelle universitäre Forschung und Gesellschaft. Das
Forschungsteam ist interdisziplinär und setzt sich aus
WissenschaftsforscherInnen und LebenswissenschaftlerInnen zusammen. Die
Leiterin der Plattform ist Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ulrike Felt.
Dauer der Befristung: 3 Jahre
Beschäftigungsausmaß: 30 Stunden/Woche.

Ihre Aufgaben:
Mitwirkung an der Forschungstätigkeit im Rahmen des Profils der
Plattform
Verfassen einer Dissertation, die thematisch im Rahmen des
Forschungsprofils der Plattform liegt
Erfolgreiche Absolvierung der fakultätsöffentlichen Präsentation des
Dissertationsprojekts innerhalb der ersten 12 Monate
Mitarbeit in der Entwicklung innovativer Formen und Formate
interdisziplinärer Zusammenarbeit mit den Lebenswissenschaften
Mitwirkung beim Einwerben von international kompetitiven Drittmitteln
Gemeinsame (und evtl. eigenständige) internationale
Publikationstätigkeit
Mitwirkung bei der Organisation von wissenschaftlichen
Veranstaltungen zum Thema der Plattform
Mitwirkung an den administrativen Agenden der Plattform
Ihr Profil:
Abgeschlossenes Studium einer sozialwissenschaftlichen
Studienrichtung (Diplom-, Master- oder Magistergrad) oder einer
anderen Studienrichtung bei Nachweis aussagekräftiger
Qualifikationen im Bereich der Wissenschafts- und Technikforschung
Fähigkeit zur Planung und Durchführung von Forschungstätigkeit auf
Dissertationsniveau
Sehr gute Kenntnisse der Wissenschafts- und Technikforschung sowohl
im Bereich der Theorien als auch der Empirie (qualitative Methoden)
Hohe Bereitschaft und Fähigkeit zum interdisziplinären Arbeiten
Ausgezeichnete oder sehr gute Kenntnisse in Englisch sind
