The SciTS 2019 Program Committee welcomes your abstract submissions for
workshops, oral papers, panel presentations, and research posters.Please
note the earlier submission deadline! The submission period is from
September 15, 2018 to January 15, 2019. All abstract submissions should
use the Abstract Template format and be submitted as a PDF via our Abstract
Submission Form.



KEY DATES

• Abstracts due: January 15, 2019 at 11:59pm EST (Eastern Standard Time).

• Presenter notification: February 15, 2019



PRESENTATION REQUIREMENTS


• Presenting authors are responsible for registration, travel, and hotel
costs.

• Any presenter who is unable to attend should arrange for another
qualified individual to present the paper/poster in question. If such a
change is necessary, please notify our conference team.

SUBMISSION OPTIONS

Individual Presentation


Oral Presentation


Oral papers provide authors the opportunity to present original work
related to conference topics.

· Oral papers will have 15-minute time slots and be clustered by
theme into sessions. Each session will include three individual
presentations and time for questions from the audience.

· Extended abstract: Submissions should utilize the Abstract
Template. Papers submitted in this category may represent original
empirical research, theoretical development, reviews, or critiques. The
word limit for oral paper abstracts is 500 words.



Research Posters


Our 90-minute poster session provides an interactive forum for authors to
discuss their work.

· Submissions may represent original empirical research, theoretical
development, or reviews.

· Poster submissions should use the Abstract Template format -- note
that the word limit for posters is 200 words.

· All individual submissions will be considered for poster
presentation if not accepted for their original submission type.



Panel Presentation


Panel presentations provide authors the option to organize a panel
comprising three related
presentations.

· Panel presentation sessions will be 90 minutes long, with 45
minutes for the presentation and 45 minutes for discussion.

· A panel presentation abstract should use the Abstract Template
format and must include an abstract summarizing the overall theme of the
panel, as well as individual abstracts for each presentation included in
the panel. The combined word limit for these abstracts is 1000 words.

· Panel presentation abstracts that bring together experts for
interactive discussion should describe questions that will be addressed by
the panel, list any underlying issues to be discussed, and include bios for
each of the panelists.





Workshops

The SciTS Program Committee invites submissions from individuals or groups
to conduct Special Interest Workshops and Seminars. Workshops and seminars
will be 3 hours in length. All topics relevant to the application of
Science of Team Science approaches are welcomed, specifically with respect
to training sessions that will equip SciTS investigators with tools and
technical skills for data collection, analysis, or presentation in their
research areas. Workshop or seminar proposals that incorporate a variety of
instructional approaches (e.g., lecture, interactive discussion, hands-on
exercises) and materials (e.g., slides, handouts, sample data) are strongly
encouraged. We encourage workshops or seminars with a focus on
methodologies including systems approaches to the field of SciTS as well as
methodologies for conducting evaluation and understanding team dynamics.
Furthermore, we welcome workshops and seminars that provide practical
guidance for conducting and managing team science in a variety of contexts
and settings, and workshops with a focus on developing team science
educational and training resources.



Proposals should be limited to 1000 words (not including biographical
sketches) and include the following information:

· Proposed title and organizers (names, affiliations, email; identify
one primary contact person)

· Description of workshop: objectives (at least 3), goals, and
expected outcomes

· Statement regarding how the workshop can benefit SciTS attendees

· Description of target audience and estimated number of participants
(minimum and maximum)

· Proposed workshop format, activities, and schedule

· Any special A/V needs

· Short biographical sketch for each presenter, describing relevant
experience and qualifications (not included in page limit)



ADDITIONAL SUBMISSION NOTES:

The selection committee reserves the right to propose alternative
presentation formats.

2019 AWARDS:

We want to acknowledge YOU – the diverse scholars, practitioners, writers,
researchers, scientists, artists, and funders as well as thinkers and
makers who make science of team science a thriving community. The goal of
the 2019 SciTS conference awards is to acknowledge outstanding work from
all corners of our growing field.



Community Award for Outstanding Poster

The community of conference attendees for the 2019 conference hosted by
Michigan State University will vote for 4 outstanding poster awards in the
following categories

- Early/Emerging Career, practice or applied research
- Early/Emerging Career, theoretical or basic research
- Established Career, practice or applied research contribution
- Established Career, theoretical or basic research contribution

To be eligible for this award, you must indicate on your proposal
submission that you wish to be included in the competition. Attendees will
vote during the poster session to determine the poster awards.



Outstanding Presentation

The ability to communicate our work to others is an essential part of the
science of team science field across roles and career stages. To be
eligible for this award, you must indicate on your proposal submission that
you wish to be included in this competition. SciTS Abstract Reviewers will
nominate pertinent abstracts, and the SciTS Planning Committee will judge
them based on originality, significance, and ability to successfully
communicate ideas in an engaging way.
