1 year Research Associate post at the University of Sheffield

1 year Research Associate post at the University of Sheffield.
The postholder will work on a Leverhulme Trust funded project exploring the
social implications of self-monitoring of health. In the context of the
rapid growth in consumer technologies for self-monitoring, like blood
pressure and glucose monitors and the rise of digital devices like personal
fitness trackers, the project will consider what people do in everyday
contexts and how self-monitoring integrates with wider healthcare. Focusing
on a number of case studies, this qualitative study considers expert and
industry perspectives and the everyday practices of self-monitoring.

The successful applicant will have, or be close to achieving, a PhD in
sociology, STS, or a related discipline, and experience of researching in
the area of health medicine, technology, and society. Experience in
qualitative research and analysis is essential, and of researching both
experts/professional and lay perspectives, an advantage.
