VRN 2019 Call for residents, visual presentations and papers

                The Visual Research Network would like to announce a call for papers, mixed
<br>media presentations and residency participants for our 2nd International
<br>Residency Conference:
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>THE REPRESENTED, THE AESTHETIC AND THE HUMAN through VISUAL CREATIVE
<br>PRACTICE.
<br>
<br>The Residency: 29th August to 3rd September in the Peak District
<br>
<br>The Conference: 5th and 6th September 2019 at the Granada Centre for Visual
<br>Anthropology, University of Manchester
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>The organizers invite theoretical, experimental, sensorial, and methodological
<br>contributions that cover themes including, but not limited to:
<br>
<br>- Individual expressions of perception, emotion, and identity
<br>
<br>- Cultural representations, memories, imaginings, and visions
<br>
<br>- Sociospatial encounters and understandings between different people and
<br>places
<br>
<br>- The politics and ethics of representation in visual research
<br>
<br>- The dynamic power relations at play in the construction and dissemination of
<br>images
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>Film, photography, performance, cartoons, sound, drawings, and any other
<br>sensory materials produced through critical, creative or reflexive processes
<br>in practice-as-research or ethnography are welcome.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>Criteria
<br>
<br>The residency conference is open to social researchers with strong
<br>audio-visual projects.
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>Residency: 1) participants will present audio-visual projects that are
<br>work-in-progress; 2) participants will have concrete plans for developing
<br>these projects during the residency; 3) participants will be ready to
<br>collaborate with other attendees in an innovative and creative, yet
<br>professional and technically proficient manner, to create a collective project
<br>to be exhibited during the conference.
<br>

<br>
<br>Conference: 1) participants will present finished work relevant to the
<br>conference topic; 2) the presentation will be centred around a strong
<br>audio-visual component.
<br>
<br>

<br>Submission
<br>
<br>Please submit your abstracts for the residency and/or conference at
<br>www.visualresearchnetwork.co.uk by
