Seminar | Platform Societies and New Vulnerabilities | University of Rome "La Sapienza"

                Dear all,

We kindly invite you to take part in the national seminar Platform Societies
and New Vulnerabilities [http://www.stsitalia.org/?p=1998] organized by STS
Italia, in collaboration with the Department of Social Science and Economics -
"University of Rome - La Sapienza", and with the journal Tecnoscienza
[http://www.tecnoscienza.net/index.php/tsj]. The event will take place in
Rome on March 8, 10:30 am, via Salaria 113, Room C4, second floor.

During the seminar, Prof. José Van Dijck will discuss the book "The Platform
Society" published by Oxford University Press, 2018. This lecture
concentrates on how online platforms are bypassing the
institutional processes through which European democratic societies are
organized, while at the same time they clash with local, national and
supra-national governments over who controls data-flows and algorithms.

Please find attached the poster of the event, and an abstract of the speech by
Prof. van Dijck.

We look forward to seeing you in Rome!
